Daoist Temple

We went to a Daoist temple right after the New Year's Eve celebration with our friends, the Griggs. It was great to see so many traditional crafts, traditions, and presentations. Before we entered in to the temple, we were able to catch the Lion dance. It was full of energy and strength.
During the Sping Festival most people travel home, spend time with their families, and give offerings to their ancestors.Inside we saw many people burning incense and paying respects to their ancestors. Michael Griggs took a great picture of Sean conversing with Chinese man about the temple and why the man was here. These are the tombstones of members of the emperioral family. Not only is this temple old (built in the 1300's), but it had some surprises as well. As we were viewing the displays, we started noticing some really scary figures next to the statue of the emperor. We found out later that the the scary figures were representing the seven worst ways to die. I'll place a link on this so you can see Sean's video, once we get it uploaded.
We were able to go back in time and grind up some grain, see a traditional puppet show, and see young boys spin plates on sticks.
Look how this girl celebrates the year of the ox. She's so festive! On our way out I noticed this firetruck. Ah, these guys are exhausted from the marathon of fireworks from the night before.
